Job Description
The mission of the Center for Global Education at Augsburg College is to provide cross-cultural educational opportunities that foster critical analysis of local and global conditions so that personal and systemic change takes place leading to a more just and sustainable world.

Plan and coordinate the development and implementation of 20 - 30 short term educational international travel seminar programs annually for academic and non-academic institutions across the U.S. and Canada. The programs are handled at five permanent CGE sites in Central America and Southern Africa, as well as selected other locations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate travel seminar program planning and arrangements with sponsors and international site staff for trips to Central America
  • Construct seminar budgets and pricing
  • Flight arrangements
  • Develop brochure text
  • Work with ITS director to coordinate revenue of $500 - $600k in net travel revenue
  • Price travel seminars for Cuba, Bolivia and Central America
  • Bilingual Spanish Coordinator and point person for program development in Central America
  • Develop and plan travel seminars with Spanish speaking coordinators in Cuba and Bolivia
  • Act as offical designated representative for Augsburg College to conduct travel seminars to Cuba as stipulated by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
  • Lead short-term internatioanl travel seminars as required, providing an interface with local consultants/staff, monitoring group needs, and helping groups to reflect on their learning experience
Required Skills
  • Must be fluent in Spanish with the ability to read and write in Spanish
  • Cross-cultural teaching/training experience preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office experience required (Word, Excel); FrontPage, Access, PageMaker, Microsoft Project experience preferred
  • Previous experience working in higher education preferred
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment required
  • Ability to work independently or with little supervision; multi-task and organize workflow required
Required Experience
  • Three years relevant program management or administrative experience required
  • Prior study abroad or international travel or living experience required, preferably to Latin America
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.  Bachelor's degree required.
