Student Service Award

In recognition of a significant contribution to others by voluntarily using ESL or second-language skills in Minnesota.

Deadline: June 15

Criteria:
1. Use of developing ESL or second language skills to make a significant contribution to others and
2. Voluntary choice to make this contribution* and
3. Reliable service and dedication to others for a year or more during the experience and
4. Advancement of nominee’s ESL or second-language skills through the experience.

Nominee must be a student in Minnesota during the year of nomination.

Who can nominate?
One of the nominators needs to be a current member of MCTLC, but not a voting member of the MCTLC board this year.

What needs to be submitted with the permission of the nominee?
1. Two letters of support for the nominee, one each from:
• a world-language teacher
• someone who has benefited from the nominee’s service
2. A description of the nominee’s experience, especially how the experience related to the nominee’s use of his/her developing ESL or second-language skills and how it benefited others
3. Full name and complete home contact information for nominator(s) and nominee


*i.e., it was not a class assignment or requirement made by others but a choice on the part of the nominee to apply in a real-world
setting his/her ESL or second-language skills.
