The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is the only national organization dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction.Of special interest: National Standards for Foreign Language Learning and ACTFL Performance Guidelines for K-12 Learners http://www.actfl.org

Boston College as part of a Title 2 Grant, Massachusetts Coalition for Teacher Quality and Student Achievement, from the US Department of Education obtained by the Lynch School of Education at Boston College, Debbie Rusch and a number of graduate students at BC have created web sites for French and Spanish teachers. The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) carries out a wide range of activities including research, teacher education, analysis and dissemination of information, design and development of instructional materials, technical assistance, conference planning, program evaluation, and policy analysis. http://www.cal.org/

The Minnesota Humanities Commission (MHC) regularly holds content-based professional development seminars and works in partnership with MCTLC, AATSP-MN, AATF-MN, and MNAATG to develop and promote resources for K-12 world language teachers.

The National K-12 Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC) work focuses on three initiatives: the use of effective teaching strategies, the use of new technologies, and the administration and interpretation of foreign language performance assessments. http://nflrc.iastate.edu/

National Network for Early Language Learning (NNELL) is an organization for educators involved in teaching foreign languages to children.
