Minnesota New Visions 2002:
Addressing the Concerns of the Profession

A seminar sponsored by the Minnesota Council on the Teaching of Languages and Cultures (MCTLC) in partnership with the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA).

July 22-23
German American Institute
301 Summit Ave., St. Paul

Minnesota New Visions 2002 will benefit from the work done by ACTFL's New Visions 2000. A history and overview of this work and ongoing plans are posted on the website www.educ.iastate.edu/newvisions/. Marcia Rosenbusch, who is on the steering committee of New Visions in Foreign Language Education, introduced us to this work in her keynote address at the MCTLC fall conference 2000.

At Minnesota New Visions 2002, we will go through a group process identifying the needs and concerns of the world language community in Minnesota. These needs and concerns will be prioritized and we will start the process of developing action plans, identifying who will begin the work on these plans and time lines for this work. Participants will be expected to be willing to be part of this ongoing effort and choose an action plan to work on. Those teachers who are interested in this work but are not able to be at the seminar may also join this work as the action plans progress.

Minnesota New Visions 2002 is an exciting opportunity for us to contribute to the work of our field as well as an opportunity for us to develop valuable networks and friends.
